Bangkok street food is sometimes a real restaurant on the street and or someone just picks up some snacks from the

street food vendor, has it packed into a plastic bag and take it away. A lot of pictures and photo on Thai street food and other show you the best food served on the streets of Bangkok.

Food stalls lining the streets with all kind of products in exotic colors, flavors. A endless row of small street restaurants around a kitchen mounted as a sidecar on a motor bike or just some pots and a gas cooker on a table at the street side. The pick up truck is parked not far away to have everything loaded quickly. But mostly the owners of the street food kitchen push the cart from home to their road location. Street food usually is offered at very low prices. Bangkok street food and elsewhere in Thailand usually come between US $ 0.50 and maybe US$ 2,- on the upper end, mostly having a good taste.

Thai street food is usually fried chicken, green and red curry plus chili with beef, chicken or pork, vegetable and all mixed with rice or noodle, basil is spread over. Plus rice in all variants, noodle dishes, stir-fried, salad, fresh fruits and desserts in different colors.

If foreigners, are around the variety of Bangkok street food expands to other food like seafood, fish, crabs, prawns placed on on ice.

The little problem with a street restaurant Thai style in Bangkok is that the street foods are not all the time very hygienic produced and offered. Some might call it romantic food for a quick food dining but it has also its negative sides.

There is also plenty of Chinese Street food in Bangkok, mostly in form of

steaming Dim Sum. Grill food is also very popular at street restaurants. Most of the open bars along Bangkok nightlife areas offer bar food and buffet food for a quick dinner or just snack.

Thai street food is somehow famous food since it is more or less usual Thai food in a different environment for much lower costs.

A great mixture of exotic plants, herbs, chicken, pork, rice and other. You can have Thai and Bangkok street food flavored in different variants, sweet, spicy, bitter, salty, sour hot and very hot. Usual ingredients are lime, garlic, chilies, basil, sugar, lemon grass, fish sauce and Soya sauce enhanced with small cut chilies. Bangkok and Thai street food is very often served as buffet or bar food in a street restaurant.

Sometimes you can see and taste Chinese and Indian influence in the street restaurants of Bangkok and not only. Small mobile shops also offer hamburger, hot dogs and variants of it. A relative new version of Thai street food is the fast food you get at every 7-11 shop in Bangkok and elsewhere in Thailand. This fast food is mostly limited to hot dogs and hamburger made from pork meat.

How to eat your street food? Thais usually use spoons and forks or simply the fingers.

For eating Thai street food using the fingers is the most convenient way, of course this wont work very good with the sauces
but just dip the chicken wings, roasted duck, fish balls -very dangerous- and other Thai food into the sauce. Be careful not to get
this small chili cuts onto your food it will burn you the mouth and throat.

It is also very advisable when you use fork and spoon eating your Thai street food to clean them first with some tissue paper. A similar cleaning should be done for the plates since it is very common that they wash of the remains on the plates continuously into the same water container and wont change the water, because there usually is no running water. In general be very careful and don't always belief what the people tell, they just tell you what they guess you want to hear.

Naturally there is also very exotic and strange street food in Bangkok Thailand. Just look at the Cock roaches, crickets and other bugs pictured at the right side.

Fruits are also a good idea when you are after Bangkok street food, but again keep in mind it is mandatory to wash them first intensively.

A alternative to the Thai street food could be to go into the big department stores, shopping centers in Bangkok and elsewhere in Thailand and select the food from the food court which is always at the top floor. At smaller malls like the new size Tesco Lotus malls they have it at the entrance level. Just choose what you like and they fill it into plastic bags to take away. In this places you can bypass the hygienic issue of the usual street food since its always quite clean. Actually in the food courts its buffet food style where you just select what you want, they place it on the plate and just sit down on one of the tables in the center and have a nice lunch. As usual there is a little problem since as mostly in Thailand the system is not thought through. In the food courts you first must buy coupons, with this coupons you pay the food at the stalls, but how do I know in the beginning how much I will need to spend since at every food stall there is a different price and they consequently wont take any cash, its just the usual stuff, they do something but don't think what happen after.
