Massage in Phuket Patong is offered virtually on every road where a tourist might come. Special massage for men is also available, the two best places for special massage is the Pearl Hotel massage parlor in Phuket Town or Phuket City and Christine Massage in Patong, there are some other massage parlors but the 2 mentioned are the biggest.

Phuket prices for ladies -short time- at Patong, Bangla Road, are about Baht 1500,- to 2000,- whole night are similar. Beer prices are always between Baht 80,- and Baht 120,- for a small Heineken beer in the bottle, relatively cheap.

Shops for tailor made clothes in Patong beach Phuket are plenty, you will stumble into one every 100 meter at the main tourist area, but be aware they might be cheap, so is the stuff you get in returns. All this tailor made shops are run by guys of Indian origin, some also Nepali.

If you order something, they give all details to some Thai people who do the actual tailor work elsewhere, many time the communication over this 3  corners wont work and junk is the result, be very careful.

There are also plenty of other fashion stores, mainly for girls.

Phuket Shopping

Going shopping in Phuket is a subject with 3 variants. At the tourist centers on the west coast of Phuket Island there are myriads of shops all selling the same stuff. Like cheap fashion cloth, shoes, handbags, plastic ware and tailor made clothing, the subject of bootleg movies and software plus fake designer clothing is somehow under control. Its seen very seldom in Phuket this days -end of 2008-. Some are still selling copy DVD movies and software but only in the backroom somewhere, it didn't disappear completely but almost. Also the shops with all the copy watches became less. Instead there are plenty of shops with nice watches with fantasy names.

Over the last few years however, a number of large shopping malls have

opened in Phuket with many international retailers, unique local local shops plus international restaurant outlets such as Burger King, MacDonald's, Kentucky Fried Chicken, Pizza Hut tec.

A new shopping mall has opened at Patong, Phuket. Named Young Ceylon, its the biggest shopping mall on Phuket west coast with more than 100 shops, supermarkets and restaurants.

History of Phuket

The first records in Phuket history are from the beginning of the 11th century. As far as historians have been able to trace, the first inhabitants of what is now known as Phuket were the sea gypsy’s and the Negrito's, which more or less are the same.

Negritos are considered to be the indigenous people of South East Asia. The term Negritos include tribes from the Malay Peninsula, Andaman tribes and several Philippine tribes.. Negritos are small size people. Genetic research showed that their DNA is among the purest of the human.

Junk Ceylon. was the first name of Phuket in its history. This name was found on old maps of Portuguese adventurer and even the Greek philosopher. Claudius Ptolemy indicated a record on Junk Ceylon in the year of 157 AD.

The best way to enjoy beauty and exotic nature of the islands around Phuket in southern Thailand is charter a yacht and sail away. Either wet or dry its just as you wish.

I see many sail boats in the Phang Nga Bay, Krabi and Trang area. No problem with pirates and other unpleasant encounters like just a few hours away off the coast of Indonesia. The area between the islands of Phang Nga Bay all the way down to the Tarutao Archipelago were specially made for sailing vacations.

Almost all Thailand islands in that area are within some kilometers of each other. Means you leave one island on your yacht, sailboat or catamaran, you can already see the other island on the horizon. Thai islands in this part of the Andaman Sea are plenty on which you can anchor during your Phuket sailing vacation.

A sailing vacation around Phuket island is not just about sailing; its about discovering a different lifestyle. Its sailing, snorkeling, scuba-diving, sunbathing on pristine beaches, fishing and say hello to the fish.

The islands in the Andaman Sea around Phuket have a great marine life as well as anything you can think around their beaches.

Phi Phi Island are a particular spot, got famous after shooting the movie, the Beach with Leonardo die Caprio now always crowded throughout the year.

In particular with young people and even more particular with Japanese ladies who want to visit the places where their idol Leonardo was doing his job .

The islands in the Trang Archipelago south of Phuket are also quite popular for sailing vacations. These islands are either empty or inhabited by Thai Sea Gypsies for whom boating is a way of life. Actually there is no other mode of transport anyway.

People also throng other islands of the Andaman Sea like the Similan Islands and Surin Islands north of Phuket. Coral Island, close to Phuket and in the very south of Thailand the islands of the Tarutao Archipelago etc.

No problem to find a mooring on most of these islands, at Phuket several marinas offer a safe place throughout the year
