Uthai Thani province is
not very visible on the travel radar, but it’s a nice area worth to
have a closer exploration.
Uthai Thani town
probably has the highest monastery density in Thailand, virtually
everywhere you go you see a different monastery or temple.
We have
compacted this a little and looked into the Wat Tha Sung a little
closer –see the pictures- since the Wat Tha Sung has a marvelous
assembly of different very beautiful buildings and is extremely well
maintained, it’s a pleasure for the eyes.
Around the Uthai Thani province are plenty of forests with wildlife.
The best known is “Huai Kha Khaeng Wildlife Reserve”
which was
proclaimed a Nature World Heritage Site on 13 December 1991.
Green
lush jungles, large forests, plains in between, many smaller rivers
and some rare animals.
At the end of the Buddhist Lent, Buddhists come from
everywhere for a major merit-making
performance called Tak Bat Thewo at the
foot of Khao Sakae Krang at Wat Sangkat
Rattana Khiri.
This is a very native
festival of Uthai Thani for hundreds of
years. Uthai Thani province has a
total area of 6,730 sqkm. |
